Belinda is “Unlocking Destiny for a Bright Future”

When Belinda contacted us at The National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility, she titled her grant request “Unlocking Destiny for a Bright Future”. A bright future is indeed what is ahead of her now that she has gained her mobility freedom!  Scott Coots, Mobility Consultant with HDS Vans & Mobility/Mobility Works in Marietta, GA worked with Belinda to ensure that she received the mobility products she needed to achieve the greatest level of independence and safety.  With the awarded grant, Belinda was able to complete the purchase of a minivan with a BraunAbility conversion, B&D Independence transfer seat, and Sure-Lok wheelchair tie downs.

I don’t need to tell you how bad the downturn in the economy was for the real estate industry. But add to that having post-polio and add to that a broken down vehicle and I was in for a very slow recovery. The company I work with is constantly sending me leads (potential buyers and sellers) to work, but I had no way to show them property and really be productive. Then I started to work with Scott Coots at Mobility Works, he told me about the grant from The National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility and I applied and was awarded a grant. Now I will be able to get out with my clients. I’ll be able to really be productive and take care of myself. There is nothing like independence.
