Celebrating Aiden’s Independence!

Mobility Consultant Jason Gomez with Advanced Wheels of Technology, Inc. in East Granby, CT assisted Aiden and his family in selecting a wheelchair accessible vehicle to best meet their needs.  Aiden’s mom, Shelley, wrote the letter below telling us how this van with a BraunAbility conversion has opened the door to Aiden’s independence:

With help from the National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility our son, Aiden, who has Muscular Dystrophy is now able to enjoy the world outside our home. The funding we received from the National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility made it possible for us to purchase a modified van which allows us to transport Aiden in his power wheelchair.  Before getting the van, Aiden was not able to hang out with his friends outside of our home or stay after school for extracurricular activities because he would have to rely on someone else to push his manual wheelchair and lift him in and out of the car.  But now we can just drop him off with his buddies and away he goes.  This van has given him a sense of independence that every 12 year old craves.  Since receiving this van, Aiden has been able to go to our town fair, attend school soccer games and stay after school for homework help.  He was even excited to go grocery shopping with mom.

Thank you Ralph Braun for giving our son independence and a social life (without mom and dad hovering!).
